Germany

Last January the Rauks invited us to Germany for Christmas this year.  Austin and I are the ultimate procrastinators and thought they were crazy.  Who plans Christmas in January?!  They invited us over to their house with the ultimate sales pitch.  Kelly even had a slide show of all their past Germany pictures rolling across the television.  Needless to say, they had me.  Austin took a little more convincing, but with a "happy wife, happy life" mentality, he gave in.

Side note: We would love to be home for Christmas, but with the amount of places we need to visit and having to be back at work so soon, it is almost impossible to spend time with everyone; so we save that for the summer. (side note of side note:  that has to be a run-on sentence)

So here it is the end of December, and our Germany trip is complete.  We stayed in Garmisch, a small town outside of Munich. It was quaint and cozy: snow everywhere, mountains surrounding us, and the smell of pork and gluhwein.  Not that I would know (I'm not bitter), but Austin said this was the place that Disney World copied...It was incredible.

We relaxed, ate Kelly's Christmas cookies, and marveled at the beauty.  The following days we skied, sledded, and visited the Neuschwanstein Castle.  We even decorated a small Christmas tree with Marin which definitely put me in the Christmas spirit!  AND Christmas Eve we attended a church service in a tiny local church... well, for 7 minutes... I will save that story for a later day.... ;)

Overall, 5 stars given to Garmisch and the entire German experience.  We look forward to returning soon.  Until next time...

Prost!
Love you guys!
